Hemp is the soft, durable fibre cultivated from Cannabis plants for commercial use. The Chinese used hemp over 4,000 years ago and now it is used in some paper, textiles, biodegradable plastics, medicine, food, fuel and by the construction industry in some countries. For example, hemp fibres can be used to strengthen concrete. Hemp is also contained in some animal bedding as well as horticultural mulch. Hemp seed oil is used as a health food product as it is high in protein and essential fatty acids and has no psychoactive properties. Industrial hemp is permitted under license in many countries with some of the main producers being in Australia, Canada, China, France, Russia, Spain and the UK.

Well I think the best thing to do is apply the same principle to marijuana seeds as you do for you vegetables. Keeping them cold slows down the process of rotting and decay. Putting them in the fridge or freezer is best as it slows down the life cycle of the seeds, meaning they will last longer. You can store them in an airtight Tupperware container and add some uncooked rice to the bottom. The rice will act as a form of desiccant that will soak up any moisture around the weed seeds. As a rule the storage life for cannabis seeds is doubled for each 5 degree centigrade reduction in temperature.
The ideal temperature is around 5 degrees centigrade but the seeds will survive perfectly well even below freezing point. Another important thing to remember is that temperature and relative humidity will affect the seed quality. See storage life is also doubled with each one percent decrease in moisture content. You can also keep the seeds in a seed packet or envelope so long as they are kept in a cool, dry and dark place. Generally the seeds are greenish/brownish with in some cases light stripes on them. They are not huge in size. If the seed is any good it will be shiny on the outside with a fir surface. If you press the outside of the seed and find it is breaking in, then it is not in good condition. Some people like to taste the seeds. This is fine as it is quite a delicacy in many countries. Basically if you peel off the skin, the taste is probably most comparable to a peanut. As with many other seeds used to grow garden annuals, vegetables and fruit there are many varieties of marijuana seeds to choose from. Some of the most popular weed seeds include White Widow, Big Bud, Bubblegum, Holland Hope, Ice, Northern Lights and Purple Power. While there are many different types and strains of seeds they can be put into three categories, which are indica, sativa and ruderalis. These are often crossed by breeders to change the growing properties of the original. We have a fine selection of well over 300 strains and each one has a description with it. Great question although there is no way of telling is a weed seed is a hermaphrodite unless it was allowed to grow. Basically the seed will produce a plant of one sex but with the organs of the other sex. The most common example is if the seed was allowed to grow as a flowering female plant will develop staminate flowers (a male trait in the plant world). Hermaphrodite weed seeds are worthless to growers in countries where it legal to do so, as the plants will ruin a sinsemilla crop when releasing their pollen. |
